Facts And Focus (9/2019)

We are members of Rotary International; the first and largest service organization in the world. The Rotary Club of Erie is the 91st club established out of over 33,000 in 200 Countries. There are 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide. We celebrated our 100 year anniversary in 2014 and published the history.

The purpose of our organization is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

Our focus is threefold: Actively engage high school juniors in Erie County about ethics, through the Erie Rotary Club Ethics Symposium, contribute to the ongoing worldwide efforts to eradicate polio; interact with and engage Erie's youth in meaningful ways to help develop tomorrow's leaders.

Voluntary Service - Know that you’re helping others.

Networking - Build relationships with fellow organizational and professional leaders.

Personal Growth - Enrich your life through your involvement with other Rotarians building a better community and world.

Enthusiastically apply your special talents to help the Club work effectively to serve others. Support our projects and serve on a committee. The amount of time you dedicate is totally up to you. We have anywhere from yearlong opportunities to those that last only a day. Financially support our Club through dues; and Rotary International through Foundation giving to help eradicate polio and fund other humanitarian programs locally and throughout the world.

Meetings - We meet Most Wednesdays from 12PM - 1PM at the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel. A buffet lunch is served starting at 11:45. The business portion of the meeting begins at 12:15PM and our speaker or program begins at 12:30PM. We adjourn at 1PM. Regular attendance is encouraged so that members can get to know other members, keep current with Club activities, and hear great speakers. It's easy if you plan your Wednesday lunch ahead and schedule around it.

Dues - Members are invoiced $157.50 per quarter. This covers your weekly lunch, membership to Erie Rotary Club, Rotary International, the monthly Rotarian Magazine, the Annual Holiday Dinner (one guest), Summer Family Picnic (immediate family), and any special meeting that may require an entrance fee.
