Marshall J. Piccinini was appointed judge of the Erie County Court of Common Pleas by Governor Tom Wolf in 2019, and was unanimously confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate.

He served for 20 years as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, including Chief of the Erie Division from 2001 to 2019 and Senior Litigation Counsel and Professional Responsibility Officer from 2016 to 2018. He previously served as an Erie County Assistant and Deputy District Attorney.

Piccinini serves on the Erie County Policy and Planning Council for Youth and Families, the Board of Directors of the Erie City Mission and the Association of Recovery in Higher Education. He previously served on the advisory boards of the UnifiedErie violence reduction initiative, the Erie County Reentry Services and Support Alliance, the Neighborhood Resource Organization and the Erie County Criminal Justice Coalition.

A native of Hartford, Connecticut, he earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Jefferson College. He served in the U.S. Army as a Judge Advocate with the 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas, from 1990 to 1994, and as a U.S. Army Reserve Commander of the 430th and 322nd MP (CID) Detachments in Erie from 1994 to 1999.

He and his wife, Carrie, have three children, Jon, Isabella and Alena.
